Easter Blessings And Our Prime Directive
Easter Blessings and Our Prime Directive
In videos one and two we referenced dried wine-skins, dead bones walking, spiritual depravity and the lack of reverence for God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit.
Video Three is about our Prime Directive and Reverence for The God-Head of Glory, The Holy Trinity.
We have to ask this question: Is the lack of reverence for The Trinity the result of wrong thinking that creeps in producing: hardheadedness and the greater threat of hardheartedness. And that moves us to ask this question: is one’s systematic theological presuppositions and perspectives producing root beliefs that cause a lack of faith toward the word of God and His blessings? I believe it does and that one’s belief system is a breeding ground for humanistic centered lifestyles in many so called followers of Christ.
Jesus referred to unfaithful belief systems as bad leaven. Like the leaven in the hearts of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus referred to the so called religious elite as white washed religious tombs. And yes, Jesus also referred to them as: dried out wine skins, dead bones walking and the spiritually depraved who lacked reverence for God. Part of the reverence He was referring to was The Infinite Godhead of all creation who we call The Trinity. Jesus said: if you knew My Father you would know me”…
I. Jesus warned us about bad leaven.
A. Leaven is the thought life that leads to blessings or sinful action.
B. Hard-headedness is from bad leaven.
C. Bad leaven leads to hardheartedness which leads to death: dried out wineskins, dead bones walking and the spiritually depraved who lacked reverence for God.
1. Spiritual hardheadedness happens when theological presuppositions and perspectives, humanistic / worldly ideologies, lead to ungodly thinking which leads to ungodly living.
2. Worldly / humanistic centered teaching promoting un-godly social and ethical morays will permeate one’s thoughts. These thoughts, if not brought into check by placing them beneath the feet of Christ, will at some point be acted upon. When this happens we replace our primary objective of reverence by walking in obedience to God which is putting Him First. Obedience to God in all things is putting Him first in all things.
3. Obedience is a huge part of Faith. Faith is to believe for and receive every promise of God’s Word. “For without Faith it is imposable to please Him’, which leads us to our Prime Directive.
II) Our “Prime directive” given to us by Jesus our Lord and Savior is: Love God first.
1. God must always be first. Why? Everything that flows from God is based on our having a relationship with Him.
By putting God first is to reverence Him. Jesus said: We have to Reverence God The Father and praise Him for the work He has done.
2. Also: We have to Reverence God The Father for sending His Son Jesus and for the work He sent Jesus to do on the cross for us. Why?
For God so loved us that He sent Jesus to die on a cross for us. This is the foundation of our faith going forward: we worship “God The Father” through “Jesus Christ His Son”, and, we are enlightened to His truth by The Holy Spirit who IS fully God and the third person of The Trinity.
Put God First in all things.
3. In 2-Corinthians 5:18-21 the apostle Paul explains this perfectly:
18 Now all these things are from God (The Father), who reconciled us to Himself through Christ (Jesus His Son) and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, (reconciliation is the great commission) 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the (ministry) word of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
21 He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (Jesus is our righteousness).
III. Jesus came to provide a way for us to enter into the presence of our Holy God The Holy Father of all creation.
A. Jesus was very explicit in telling us what the greatest commandment is and why His Prime Directive is in all four books of the (synoptic) gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and throughout the epistles.
Jesus clearly stated: The greatest of all commandments is: “Love The Lord your God with all your heart and strength”…
B. Could Love For God be anything less than putting God first in al things and reverencing Him?, for He IS the beginning of all things.
So Let’s Re-Cap:
1. Father God sent Jesus, The Light of life and revelation to give us eternal life.
2. The Father sent His Son to point the way to Him – God The Father in whom there is eternal life.
3. Jesus did this through obedience to His work and death on the cross.
4. Jesus did this so we could be reinstated into the wonderful blessings the love of God has and wants to bless His son’s and daughters with.
Remember the relationship Adam and Eve had with God before they sinned?, that’s our way forward through Jesus.
5. The awesome truth is this: God’s love for us opened the door for us to have relationship with Him so we could have a faith walk led by God.
IV. Faith is good leaven that grows as we walk in relationship that comes through Jesus and is maintained through open communication with God The Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord and savior and led by The Holy Spirit.
1. Our efforts to walk with God in love can only happen through His Son Jesus Christ, our King of kings and Messiah and His Holy Spirit who reveals God truth to us because He IS God.
2. At Salvation we receive The Holy Spirit who is fully God through
the blood of Jesus. When we pray the prayer of asking for forgiveness
and salvation The Holy Spirit comes into us and leads us and guides us
in HIS truth. This incredible gift to us was God’s plan from the
beginning of creation.
3. Father God has given us new life in His blessings.
When we choose to reverence Him and the fulness of who He IS we must also reverence The Godhead of Glory. You cannot separate God The Father from His Spirit or His Word or His Son.
4. When putting The GodHead First we choose to receive the fulness of the revelations of His truths and must choose to walk forward in them. Obedience is reverence and to reverence is to walk in obedience to Him. This is called walking in The Spirit.
5. A Spirit led faith walk is walking in The Spirit of God. To understand this walk we must learn more about The Holy Trinity which we’ll talk about in video four.
